Mental Health Technician – Direct HireLocation: Malvern, PASchedule: Full-Time | 7:00 AM–3:00 PM or 3:00 PM–11:00 PMType: Direct HirePay: $20.00–$22.80/hour, based on education and experienceSign-On Bonus: $1,000 for 1st Shift / $2,000 for 2nd ShiftAbout the PositionA leading children's behavioral health organization is seeking a Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join their team at an inpatient psychiatric facility serving children and adolescents ages 5–18.This facility provides short-term acute psychiatric care to children and adolescents experiencing mental health crises. Patients may present with a variety of behavioral and psychiatric needs, including depression, aggression, self-injurious behaviors, psychosis, autism spectrum disorders, suicidal behaviors, and substance-related concerns.The Mental Health Technician plays an important role in providing a safe, structured, and supportive environment while helping patients work toward stabilization and successful transition back to their communities.ResponsibilitiesProvide direct care, supervision, and support to children and adolescents in an inpatient psychiatric settingMaintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for patientsMonitor patient behavior and communicate observations to the treatment teamAssist with daily routines, activities, and therapeutic programmingSupport patients in developing and practicing appropriate coping and behavioral skillsReinforce treatment plans and behavioral expectationsAssist with crisis intervention and de-escalation as neededBuild positive, professional relationships with patients while maintaining appropriate boundariesDocument and communicate relevant patient behaviors, interactions, and progressWork collaboratively with nurses, teachers, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, and other members of the treatment teamSupport trauma-informed care and individualized treatment approachesSchedule1st Shift: 7:00 AM–3:00 PM2nd Shift: 3:00 PM–11:00 PMFull-Time Schedule:One consistent weekday off (Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday)Must work every other Saturday and SundayWeekend availability is required for this position.RequirementsCandidates must meet one of the following:Option 1:High School DiplomaAt least 2 years of direct care experienceOROption 2:Bachelor's Degree from an accredited collegeAt least 12 college credits in a human services-related discipline, including areas such as: PsychologySociologySocial WorkEducationCounselingCriminal JusticeHealthRecreationPastoral CounselingPolitical SciencePreferred Experience2+ years of experience working with youthExperience working with children or adolescents with behavioral health needsMental health or psychiatric experienceResidential or inpatient behavioral health experienceExperience with crisis intervention or behavioral de-escalationExperience working with individuals experiencing significant emotional or behavioral challengesCandidates who are selected will complete the employer's pre-employment and onboarding requirements, including required background checks, fingerprinting, and an onsite oral drug screen.Please note: Candidates will need to provide original/official education documentation, such as a transcript or diploma, along with required identification documents.
